The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board is issuing a 401 Water Quality Certification for the subject Project. Levee modifications are necessary to reduce flood risk by eliminating the surge effect downstream during large storm events, to open the tract to regular inundation and tidal exchange, and to aid in habitat restoration. Inactive gas wells and pipelines, and groundwater monitoring wells will be decommissioned.
