Document Description
In Nov. 2008, the La Paz Development Agreement Project Final EIR was certified by the City. Mitigation Measure K-2 contained in the Final EIR requires intersection improvements within the existing Caltrans right-of-way to add a westbound right-turn lane along Pacific Coast Hwy at Cross Creek Road/Pacific Coast Hwy intersection improvements (CDP No. 14-036) analyzed whether the anticipated removal of a protected native sycamore tree and several non-native eucalyptus trees associated with the intersection improvements would result in any significant impacts or substantially increase the severity of the previously anticipated impacts, and concluded that no significant impacts would occur and no increase in the severity of previously anticipated impacts would result. Nevertheless, the coastal development permit for the Cross Creek Road/Pacific Coast Hwy intersection improvements was approved subject to conditions of approval which require preservation of the protected sycamore tree and non-native eucalyptus trees, and the final design of the project complies with this requirement. The coastal development permit addresses and approves these improvements required by Mitigation Measure K-2 of the La Paz Development Agreement Project Final EIR, which includes construction of a westbound right-turn lane along PCH at the Cross Creek intersection and realignment of the PCH/Cross Creek intersection to the south towards Malibu Lagoon State Beach.
