The site is zoned CD-3 (Central District Sub-area 3: Civic Center) and is located within the boundaries of the Central District Specific Plan. The project site is presently developed with a Conference Center facility, the Historic Pasadena Civic Auditorium as well as an Ice Skating Rink (previously a ballroom facility).
Document Description
The project is the renovation and expansion of the existing Pasadena Conference Center Facility including 208,298 square feet of new floor area (exclusive of parking). As proposed, the existing Exhibition Hall located at the east end of the site would be demolished and replaced with a new Exhibition Hall of approximately 133,356 square feet. The existing Conference Center building at the east side of the site will remain. The interior will be remodeled and a new facade will be applied to compliment the new Exhibition Hall structure. An addition is proposed to the rear of the Conference Center building of approximately 55,000 square feet. The new addition will consist of lobby/pre-function space and a new ballroom that will be located behind the Conference Center building, extending to the south along Euclid Avenue. The existing subterranean parking area is also proposed to be expanded by approximately 150 spaces. In addition, the steps in front of the Civic Auditorium will be restored to the original 1932 design; there are no proposed changes to the Civic Auditorium or the existing ice-rink.
