Document Description
The project proposes to develop the 31.5-acre vacant site bounded by Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), 1st Street, Huntington Avenue, and Atlanta Avenue into a mixed-use visitor serving commercial center together with a residential village. The site is currently undeveloped, although construction activities on the project site have been documented since the 1800s. A variety of former land uses have occured on the site, including commercial, industrial, residential, and agricultural uses. Oil production facilities that previously occupied the site have left behind abandoned oil wells, and soil remediation is currently underway, with completion expected in January 2003. Other temporary uses of the site include the short-term use of a portion of the southwesterly corner of the site as a staging/storage facility for beach cleaning equipment and employee vehicles for the City of Huntington Beach.
