The Specific Plan area consists of approximately 2,581 acres of primarily farmland, with limited residential, commercial and industrial uses. The site is predominantly used for agricultural activities throughout the year, and the principle crop grown is strawberries, however, raspberries, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, and bush berries are also grown. A small portion of the site is used for grazing activities.

The Rancho San Juan Revised Specific Plan (GPZ050005) includes 1,147 residential units; 18-hole golf course, 71 time-share units, 45,000 square feet of retail/commercial, parks and open space and wastewater treatment plant.
