Document Description
An existing damaged radial gate will be replaced with a roller slide gate at the Kern Canyon Project Diversion dam. Access for construction equipment will be by existing roads and a temporary bridge crossing of the Kern River. During construction, river flows will be diverted through the flashboard section of the dam. Other project activities include minor concrete repairs, installation of steel supports above the normal water surface, inspection and repair of trash racks and reinforceing steel on the dam, removal of boulders and other materials from behind the diversion dam and recontouring of an existing constructed bench on the north bank of the river. Construction materials will be contained to prevent entry into the waterway, temporary bridge and abuments will be removed after repairs are complete, and disturbed areas restored.
