Document Description
SAA R3-2002-0626 The proposed project will require crews to trim a narrow swath of vegetation immediately above Southern California Gas Company pipelines, in order to inspect the lines for leaks. The swaths will be approximately five feet in width and will be constructed using primarily hand tools such as loppers and shears, although chainsaws and weedwhackers may be used if needed. Vegetation will be selectively removed and will not be clear cut. The root zone of existing vegetation will not be disturbed, and no excavation of stream beds, banks, or channels will occur. Crews will then be able to survey the pipeline using "sniffing" equipment to inspect the line and determine the presence of potential gas leaks.
