Document Description
The Operator proposes to alter the streambed and banks by conducting herbicide spraying of Arundo donax on approximately 1.0 acre of Corps wetland property within the San Gabriel watershed, located along San Jose Creek, upstream of Whittier Narrows Basin. The project involves the subsequent use of the foliar spray herbicide "Rodeo" on resprouts in an area where Arundo control had begun one year prior. The proposed project may also include removing invasive species consisting of, but not limited to, Arundo (Arundo donax), Ailanthus (Ailanthus altissima), tamarisk (Tamarix sp.), perennial pepperweed (Lepidium latifolium), Russian thistle (Salsola tragus), Mexican fan palm (Washintonia robusta), giant creek nettle (Urtica diolca), cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium), castor bean (Ricinus communls), and other invasive non-native trees and plants that where previously stockpiled within the project area. Maintenance activities are limited to herbicide re-spraying and above-ground clearing of invasive vegetation and shall be conducted by hand-crews. At no time will any equipment enter the stream channel. Additional applications of foliar spray shall be applied as needed. At no time will any equiment enter the stream channel.
