Document Description
The proposed project would allow the establishment of an interim youth sports field facility as an outdoor public recreation use in the SAVUR. The proposed sports field project would include up to 12 baseball/softball/soccer fields on approximately 41.5 acres of an approximately 77-acre property owned by the San Jose Unified School District. In addition, the proposal would allow up to three portable concession buildings, batting cages, a maintenance yard, a children's play lot and a parking lot to accommodate up to 650 parking spaces. The project does not propose the extension of any utility systems, such as electricity, sewer or water line extensions onto the site. To provide basic sanitary services, the project proposes the use of an existing on-site well and a septic system. The project requires a City of San Jose General Plan Text Amendment to allow certain limited, interim recreational uses on public properties that are consistent with the long-term character of the SAVUR. The project also requires subsequent associated permits for the development of the youth sports field complex.
