Document Description
The IOS Project is the initial phase of the SMART Project approved by the SMART Board of Directors in 2006, with termini in Downtown San Rafael, Marin County, and Downtown Santa Rosa, Sonoma County. The IOS Project will reconstruct track, replace and rehabilitate bridge, construct passenger stations, purchase rail vehicle, construct a maintenance facility and develop other miscellaneous items to implement a fully operational passenger rail system. The Grade Crossing Signal Upgrade Project is one component of the IOS, which will repair and replace outdate rail and highway crossing warning equipment. The improvements includes replacing warning lights and gates, installing train detection systems, replacing controlling equipment and other related items.
