Document Description
The proposed project is the expansion and redesignation of the existing Recycling Market Development Zone. The RMDZ program is a partnership of local governments and the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), created to provide incentives to businesses that use secondary materials from the waste stream as feedstock for their manufacturing processes. The purpose of the program is to create sustainable markets for diverted solid waste materials by increasing the use of recycled materials as manufacturing feedstock, and to strengthen the local manufacturing sector of the recycling industry by offering financial, technical, and marketing incentives to small and medium size manufacturers. With all jurisdictions participating, the SRRMDZ would increase from 4,500 acres to over 636,000 acres, of which more than 20,000 acres are currently zoned industrial.
