The project site is located at the northern end of the Santee Lakes Regional Park and Campground property on Carlton Oaks Blvd. The property is zoned Park/ Open Space and the Land Use designation is Public. The one-quarter acre project site are two abandoned percolation basins which are bordered on the west, north and south by existing campgrounds. The site is bordered on the east by the existing water district access road and single family homes.
Document Description
The proposed project is a request by the Padre Dam Municipal Water District for a Minor Revision to the approved Conditional Use Permit P80-83MR. That permit was originally approved by the Santee City Council on August 23, 2000 and to allow the renovation and expansion of the primitive campground area located at the north end of the Santee Lakes Regional Park and Campground. As appproved, the project would replace the existing 65-space primitive campground area with a 100-space recreational vehicle camping area. The project also includes the construction of two new restrooms, a swimming pool, an on-site caretaker's residence and construction of a new or renovated "campers-only" entrance onto Fanita Parkway. The applicant is now requesting a Minor Revision to the permit to modify the design of the approved campground expansion to: 1. add 29 new camping spaces, and 2. to delete the caretakers quarters and to add a new storage structure.
