The project consists of excavating a pit that will be used for the extraction of sand and gravel. The project will result in impacts to Mohave ground squirrel (Spermophilus mohavensis) and desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii), species designated as threatened under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). The permit referenced above as issued by CDFG authorizes incidental take of the species under CESA that may result with implementation of the project.
