Document Description
The Lake Elsinore Destratification Project consists of 16 axial flow pumps clustered in rafts of four pumps per raft. Each pump will have a large diameter (ca. 6 ft.), slow-moving propeller and will be powered by a three horsepower electric motor. The axial flow pumps, commonly referred to as Gorton pumps, have been widely used for destratifying lakes and reservoirs by moving water at the surface of the lake downward. Pumps are operated with a debris shield (fencing) to prevent debris fouling and to revent access to the fan blades. Refts will be placed along the demarcation of the high speed zone. Each raft will consists of a flowtation arrangement where each axial flow pump can be inserted or removed from the raft independent of the other pumps for repair and maintenance without disrupting operations.
