Document Description
Rehabilitate the landscape of the historic Bidwell Mansion at Bidwell State Historic Park to provide a historically-based representation of the Victorian-era landscaping present from approximately 1841-1918 and support continued use of the site. Remove asphalt in the historic core area (not on Sowilleno Avenue or in Visitor Center parking lot). Install sprinkler system and interpretive signage. All elements of the landscape will be based on historical research, including plant materials, walkways, structures, and other features necessary for a cohesive design, but will be adapted to accommodate availability of appropriate plants and materials, ease of maintenance, public safety, site accessibility, and aesthectic appeal.
