Reasons for Exemption
This 50-year old trunk sewer line has not been accesed for cleaning and maintenance for many years. In addition, recent inspection has show: exposed pip, heavy grease and root intrusion. Due to these reasons there is a high potential for sewage spills. The average daily flow is approx. 0.33 million gallons per day (mgd) and the peak flow is as high as 0.67 mgd. Therefore, in the event of a sewage spill, a significant amount of flow would reach the Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean jeopardizing public health and safety.
