Document Description
Three partially plugged or fully plugged 24" legacy culverts along Albion River Road will be removed. The failure of these culverts has caused flow from their streams to divert down Albion River Road nearly every winter, causing erosion delivered to the main stem of Albion River which is habitat for coho salmon and steelhead trout. Natural channel dimensions of grade, width, and bank slope will be restrored. Each excavation will be about 30 feet long by about 4 feet deep. All exposed soil areas will be mulched with straw. The fill will be stored on the road surface out of the channels. All three channels will be dry when the work is done, which will take about 1 day. Work will be in accordance with methods described in the California Department of Fish and Game's California Salmonid Stream Habitat Restoration Manual, and Mendocino County's Handbook for Forest and Ranch Roads. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2002-0861 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1603.
