Document Description
The project involves the extension of the City's wastewater collection mainline from Spear Avenue to the Arcata Mobile Home Park which serves as housing for predominantly low income residents. The project is in response to a Notice to Abate issued by the County of Humboldt. Four of the Park's five aging septic systems are failing; one has failed. Examination by the City of Arcata's Public Works and Enviornmental Services Departments indicate abandonment of the septic systems as the only feasible solution. The project will mitigate an impending health hazard as well as reduce groundwater contamination.
