Document Description
The project would replace the existing physically and functionally deficient Gerald Desmond Bridge with a contemporary, seismically resistant structure that would meet vehicular and shipping needs for its planned 100-year design life. The replacement bridge will be located 140 feet north of the existing bridge. The structure will be cable-stayed with single mast towers. The proposed bridge replacement would necessitate reconfiguration of adjacent freeway and arterial interchanges. Roadway and aesthetic lighting would also be included in the bridge design.
