The project proposes the replacement of the existing Gerald Desmond Bridge, connecting Route 710 to Terminal Isalnd, in order to improve existing traffic flows traveling across the bridge, replace the physically deteriorated existing structure, and increase the vertical clearance beneath the bridge for the shipping traffic that passes below.
