Document Description
Emergency cleaning by City forces of a 34-year old sewer line for a distance of approxiately 10,963 feet. large rocks, severe foot intrusion, multiple cracks, ifiltration, and corrosion have been noted via recent televising of this line. The pipe size varies from 18 to 30 inches in diameter and is madeof vitrified clay and PVC. Construction will be needed in this canyon to approximately 38 manholes. Access to additional manholes may be required during emergency cleaning. These construction activities include grading, repair of maintenance access, and installation of water crossings, if needed. Once this is completed, other side canyon areas may need to be accessed and sewer lines cleaned depending upon the results of further inspections. All work will be coordinated with the community and be monitored by a biologist.

This 34-year old sewer pipeline shows severe deteriorated conditions including but not limited to severe large rocks, cracks, heavy root intrusion, and debris in the line. The average daily flow is approximately 13.22 millio gallons per day (mgd) and the peak flow, 20.89 mgd. In the event of a sewer overflow, a signiicant amount of sewage can reach Los Penasquitos Lagoon and the Pacific Ocean, threatening wildlife habitat and public health and safety. Emergency cleaning is needed to prevent imminent spills and to avert further spills.
