Document Description
The Yuba County Water Agency will install a tailwater depression system at New Colgate Powerhouse. The project involves the installation within the existing powerhouse facility of fabricated equipment that will provide for tailwater depression during higher flows, and operation of the new equipment to maintain powerhouse operations under high-flows conditions that historically required to shutdown of the powerhouse. The objective of these improvements is to enhance the Agency's ability to regulate flood inflow to New bullards Bar Reservoir by providing for additional reservoir release capacity through the powerhouse facilities in advance of and during flood flows. To power the new equipment, an electrical line will be extended from an existing transmission line on the slope north of the powerhouse to three new blowers, and associated electrical equipment will be installed near the powerhouse at the base of the slope and within the powerhouse yard. The project is expected to increase power generation by approximately 328,000 megawatt hours over a 50-year period.
