Document Description
The Urban Village Specific Plan ("Plan") is a legislative Policy and Regulatory document developed to implement the City's General Planprovisions that relate to the 240-acre area designated as Village Commercial. New development anticipated to occur within the Urban Village is anticipated to be 183,000 sq.ft. of retail uses, a 250-room hotel, 200 residential units, and a combination of general and medical office ranging between 138,000-380,000 sq.ft. The main goal of the Plan is to create a "Downtown" environment for the area surrounding the existing Laguna Hills Mall. Making the area more pedestrian-friendly by adding walkways between businesses, encouraging additional specialty retail shops and outdoor cafes, and creating consistent design themes for landscaping, signage, and street furniture (within the area) are important Plan objectives.
