Document Description
The action to be taken entails revising the existing Campus Master Plan to indicate a new location and configuration for a Science Building and several tennis courts. The tennis courts that occupy the proposed site for the Science Building are relocated adjacent to the track and field facilities in the revised Master Plan. Programmatic components of the Science Building would remain unchanged and thus no increase in enrollment capacity (FTE) would occur. (While the footprint for the Science Building in the existing Master Plan is smaller than that shown in the proposed Master Plan, the existing Plan contemplated a high-rise structure, while the proposed revision calls for a low-rise building.)

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Ministerial
Type, Section or Code
Section 21080(b)(1), 15268
Reasons for Exemption
Per Section 21080 of the Public Resources Code and Section 15268 of the CEQA Guidelines, the action described above constitutes a ministerial action which requires no discretionary review, nor any judgement about the merits of the action. The Master Plan revision relocates and reconfigures a planned Science Building and several tennis courts. No new uses are added to the revised Master Plan and the relocated and reconfigured Science Building would not result in increased capacity for students (FTE) beyond what is contemplated in the existing Master Plan. As the relocation of the Science Building and tennis courts within the Master Plan creates no potential for significant environmental impacts, no discretionary review is required by the lead agency and therefore the action is exempt by statute.
