Document Description
Reconstruct and alter existing Prairie Creek Trail at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park to provide accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Construct a new footbridge (raised pathway) with appurtenant ramps and landings (161 feet total length), and two additional smaller footbridges (36 feet and 26 feet in length, respectively). Replace existing deteriorated footbridge (50 feet in length); increase abutment height of replacement bridge. Appearance of all bridges and railings will be in keeping with existing park rustic style of construction. Realign and recontour existing trail and reroutes as necessary to meet ADA accessibility standards, including removal of existing steps, puncheons, and gravel surfacing that obstruct accessibility. Restore natural drainage for abandoned portions of trail and volunteer trails; revegetate disturbed areas with native grasses/plants. Resurface entire final trail alighment (excluding footbridges) with compacted gravel base, mixed gravel/native soil, and thin layer of duff.
