Document Description
Exterminate honey bees infesting the South Wing of the historic Casa Grande in Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument and remove all honey and hive materials from the interior wall of the structure. Work must take place immediately to protect the health and safety of employees and visitors. Bees will be killed with Permethrin (trade name "Dragnet") and Deltamethrin (trade name "Deltadust"). The area will be restricted to all unnecessary personnel and all visitors pesticide application and as necessary during associated repairs. Both natural and cultural monitors will be onsite as necessary throughout construction, in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and DPR policies. Repair work to the structure following removal of the bees will be conducted in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and the California Historic Building Code.
