Document Description
Ceres High School was originally designed for 900 students and currently houses 2,454 students in 90 classrooms. Approximately 50% of these classrooms are portables, most of which are provided by the State of California under the emergency portable program. The District has recently added 8 State emergency portable classrooms to the east side of the campus. This addition has necessitated an additional restroom facility for students and staff. The District proposes to add a temporary restroom facility on the east side of the campus. The portable restroom will be placed wholly within the existing campus so no land acquisition will be required. The restroom will be temporary because voters approved a local general obligation bond in the amount of $25 million to construct a second high school in Ceres. The second high school is scheduled to open in 2005 and will relieve overcrowding at Ceres High. The temporary restroom will be installed in August 2002. The purpose of the project is to provide additional restroom facilities for growth and class size reduction. The direct beneficiaries of the project are the high school students, the faculty, and administration.
