This project consists of construction of the mitigation site for the Interstate 5 San Mateo Bridge repair project which was authorized under SAA #5-2001-0285. the restoration consists of moving the existing stream bank farther to the south to allow planting of southern willow scrub. Oak woodland and coastal sage scrub will also be restored on site. The project includes removal of exotic plant species within existing riparian vegetation and planting of willow cuttings within those areas. The site is within critical habitat for both the least Vell's vireo and arroyo toad and will be monitored to ensure that project activities do not adversely effect these species. Although the project site is directly adjacent to SR-76, it should result in an overall improvement of habitat.
