Document Description
This project is to provide salary and travel expenses for a USFS Regional OHV Coordinator, to coordinate the OHV recreation program on 19 National Forests in California with the OHMVR Division and Commission. The key area of emphasis is the proper use and compliance with State Application standards and procedures. Other areas of program emphasis include monitoring of soil loss, wildlife, and conflicts; conservation, enforcement, development of Forest Orders, route designation; rehabilitation of lands damaged by OHV's; and training. Specific activities include representing the USFS at OHMVR Commission and Division meetings, participating in other meetings to solve Statewide problems, oversight of funded projects, including the OHV Route Mapping Re-scope Project, NEPA/CEQA reviews, Forest OHV program reviews, reviews of WHPP's, and training. This includes funding a FT Ecologist/Monitoring Coordinator to assist Forests in meeting requirements of WHPP's and to improve monitoring and assessment of potential impacts on wildlife and soils. No ground disturbing activities are proposed with this project.
