Document Description
The Cit. of Santa Rosa Board of Public Utilities (BPU) directed that the Discharge Compliance Project be initiated in 2004 to maintain the discharge of recycled water in compliance with regulations. Engineering and environmental studies have been conducted evaluating a broad range of alternative in response to BPU and public input. On Dec. 4, 2008, the BPU approved the Preferred Project (the Environmentally Superior Alternative) identified in the Sept. 2008 FEIR for the Discharge Compliance Project. The approved project includes: -A new multi-port diffuser at the discharge site adjacent to the existing Delta Pond; -Implementation of a Nutrient Offset Program to meet nutrient load reduction goals; -Upgrade of the existing Llano Pump station to capacity of 55mgd; -A request for a mixing zone and possibly new nutrient removal facilities at the Laguna Plant; -Installation of a pipeline from the Geysers Recharge Pipeline to Delta Pond and -Potential installation of storage pond aerators.
