Present Land Use
The San Buenaventura State Beach General Plan, the State's planning document for the project site, allows for many recreational uses of the San Buenaventura State Beach. Other applicable land use plans include the City of San Buenaventura's Comprehensive Plan as the State Beach lies within the City of San Buenaventura. The Comprehensive Plan designates the project area as Parks-State Beach. This City's Open Space and Conservation Element. The City of San Buenaventura's zoning designation for the proposed project is Parks.
The proposed project is called a Facilities Development Plan. The plan proposes a number of physical renovations to the central portion of the San Buenaventura State Beach recreational facility. Collectively, these renovations are intended address deferred maintenance of aging physical features and improve functionally of the park unit. The renovation activity will focus on the following four areas; Pedistrian and Vehicular Circulation and Parking Areas, Picnic/Day Use/Large Group Use Areas, Reconfiguration of the San Pedro Street Entrance, and Removal of Facilities from the Dunes and Restroom Replacement.
