Document Description
The Department of Parks and Recreation has received budget approval to upgrade the camping and day use areas at Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area. All improvements are located within existing developed areas in the Mesa Campground, Cleghorn Day Use Area and Saw Pit Day Use Area. No work will occur within natural habitat areas. Improvements in the Mesa area include visitor center replacement (approximately 2,500 sf) and associated landscaping, and installation of full utility hookups for 42 existing RV Sites. In the Cleghorn Day Use Areas, construction of three shade structures on pads with group barbeques and sinks to accommodate approximately 50 persons each and associated landscaping, addition of two accessible stalls to the existing beach restroom, redesign of parking islands in existing parking lot to accommodate additional parking for approximately 12 vehicles and to improve storm water treatment, conversion of irrigation system from potable water source to pumped lake source, and construction of a small playground with play equipment and volleyball court. Improvements to the Saw Pit Day use area include moving the swim line over 500 feet to provide additional beach access for swimming, and addition of a portable lifeguard tower.
