Document Description
The project consists of construction of a 10 foot wide asphalt-paved hiking/bicycle trail system along the southern portion of the Santa Ana River from La Cadena Drive, in the City of Colton, to Waterman Avenue, in the City of San Bernardino, a distance of approximately 3.5 miles. The trail system will be located on top of the existing Flood Control District levees and maintenance roads. The project will consist of the installation of a 14 foot wide pre-fabricated bridge across San Timoteo Creek for pedestrian, equestrian, and cycle use, the installation of a culvert crossing at the Santa Ana River/ Reche Canyon junction, construction of a concrete 10 foot wide and 2 to 5 feet high ramp leading down to the riverbed from the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad overpass to just south of the La Cadena Drive Bridge, and the construction of a concrete ramp along the south bank at the La Cadena Drive bridge. Construction will disturb native soil and vegetation as little as possible. Trees are to be removed only if they are unavoidably in the path of the proposed trail.
