Document Description
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), pursuant to authority granted under California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 4.5, Chapter 20, Section 66270.40, prepared an addendum for the approval of the Class 1* Permit Modification to the existing Post Closure Permit (Permit) for the USS-UPI, LLC. Facility (Facility), formerly USS-Posco Industries. The existing Permit outlines primary functions involving regular inspection of the landfill, Groundwater Self-Monitoring Programs (GSMP), and data analysis. This Class 1* Permit Modification (Permit Modification) does not include any changes to the permit or physical changes to the Facility. The Permit Modification is a proposed change to the statistical methods used for groundwater monitoring results analysis (i.e., updates to the Prediction Limits/Concentration Limits) following the conclusion of the 2018 sampling year. The improved sampling statistical method will allow for more accurate data collection on the contaminant levels present within the post-closure area.
