The recommended (NED) plan, Alternative 2, involves construction of a base beach fill consisting of 925,000 cubic meters (1,210,000 cubic yards) of suitable beach sand, plus a sacrificial advance beach fill of 764,000 cubic meters (1,000,000 cubic yards), for a total initial beach fill of 1,689,000 cubic meters (2,209,000 cubic yards).
