Document Description
The Lynwood Unified School District proposes to construct a new middle school and an elementary school, together which would be known as the San Luis Educational Village, for 1,520 students on an approximately 12.7-acre site in the City of Lynwood. The two schools would be located west of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Abbott Road and San Luis Avenue. The property is located approximately 0.75 mile north of Interstate 105 (Century Freeway) and approximately 1.5 miles west of Interstate 710 (Long Beach Freeway). The existing Lynwood schools are at or exeeding capacity, and with an anticipated population increase in Lynwood and the Southern California area, enrollment demand will increase further. The proposed San Luis Educational Village project would relieve overcrowding at the existing middle and elementary schools by permitting transfer of currently enrolled students to the new location and accommodating future enrollment demand from anticipated new residents. No immediate overall increase in District enrollment is projected as a result of the proposed project.
