Document Description
Emergency cleaning and repairs to approximately 26 manholes for a distance of 4,622 feet of 6,8, and 12-inch diameter VC (vitrified clay) pipeline. Construction will include access to manholes including side canyons if needed. Repairs will include fixing broken pipe joints and replacing corroded cast iron pipes or other sections as needed. Severe root intrusion, heavy grease and debris, multiple cracks, broken pipe joints, and plugged service lines have been noted in many sections. In addition, several sewer overflows and emergency cleaning/repairs have occurred here in last few years. An additional 3685 feet of sewer line will be cleaned from MH No. 427 south to MH No. 288 (Whaley Avenue/Ash St.). This work is anticipated to be cleaned in existing streets except for 551 feet which may need access from the canyon, nearest Gregory/Cedar Street or from the intersection of Beach & 34 Streets. All work will be monitored by a biologist and erosion control measures implemented as needed.
