Document Description
The proposed project is the reuse of the vacated 31,192 square foot Martin Luther King Library for the consolidation and centralization of the many computer laboratories located throughout the Riverside campus. With the construction of the new Digital Library/Learning Resource Center, the reuse of this existing library building, completely within the existing RCCD Riverside campus, is proposed as a centralized computer High-Tech center to house Operational Systems, specialized language instruction, instructional computer laboratories, high-tech Media Distribution, seminar space, and common use areas, providing a multi-use interactive instructional environment. By eliminating many of the small computer laboratories scattered throughout the campus, the proposed project will benefit the student population at the Riverside city campus by increasing student participation and decreasing the cost of the many file servers and equipment associated with maintaining the small separate computer laboraties.
