Document Description
In the proposed demonstration project, existing pilot scale Controlled Eutrohpication Process (CEP) units will be used to establish optimal design and operation protocols for removing nitrogen and phosphorus from the Whitewater River before it enters the Salton Sea. All of the tanks, treatment system components, and data monitoring recorders for the demonstration project are already in service. A submersible pump and piping will be placed in the Whitewater River to deliver water to the test facility located 100 meters away. The overall approach will be to stimulate rapid algal growth using a process design that permits accurate control of pond mixing rates, algal cell age and nutrient concentrations.
