Document Description
Due to unstable soils, landslides, and slippage, work on Highway 101 has been compromised and existing drainage systems have failed. This project will correct the problems and reduce the risk of future problems on the highway. The work will consist of the enlargement of the buttress fill, reconstruction of the two failed drainage systems, and the installation of approximately 55 linear meters of rock over an impervious layer in the unnamed drainage that leads to one of the drainage systems. Existing riparian and upland vegetation will be removed to accommodate the liner rock and this stretch of stream will not be able to support riparian vegetation in the future. The newly constructed channel will be approximately 0.5 meters at the bed and the rock will extend up 0.7 meters on the south and slightly higher on the north. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2002-0270 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1601.
