The Department intends to purchase fee title to the Feeney-Lerch Ranch for flood corridor protection and wildlife habitat protection and enhancement using funding under Chapter 5, Article 2.5, Section 79035 of the California Water Code. The parcel west of the levee will be resold with an agricultural conservation easement. Walnuts (24 acres) on the waterside will be removed and restored to riparian habitat.
