Document Description
Project consists of replacing historic dune vegetation in south and beach area in a known archaeological and historical site by capping approximately 200 linear feet of dune with 2/3 feet of sand (150 cubic yards) and seeding/replanting with native species. Project excludes 4 narrow strips: 1) new lifeguard access ramp (sand over filter fabric) by cottage #1, 2) cement steps at cottage #16, 3) wooden steps at cottage #22, and 4) a 3x4 box culvert outlet to be removed by CalTrans and replaced with beach access steps. An archaeologist will record and auger test site for depth, and monitor sand depostion. All dune enhancement and re-vegetation is reversible.

No potential for significant impacts to the environment is anticipated. An archaeologist will ensure avoidance of significant impacts to cultural resources. There will be negligible or no expansion of existing use (class 1). Consists of construction of limited numbers of new, small facilities (Class 3). Project does not invlove removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees (Class 4). Temporary use of land having negligible or no permanent effects on the environment. Project is limited to maintenance, repair, stabilization, rehabilitation, restoration, preservation, conservation or reconstruction of historical resources in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
