Document Description
The application is for a use permit to construct an approximately 8.1 acre river front trail system and natural area park. Construction of the facility will necessitate the placement of approximately 1,000 cubic yards of fill into the 100-year flood plain of the River. The trail system and park will include construction of approximately 1,340 lineal feet of 10' wide concrete trail including a 10' x 60' pedestrian bridge over the on-site drainage channel. The paved trail's southern terminus will be at a proposed picnic area in the southwestern quarter of the site. At the picnic area, a paved connection will be constructed leading to the western corners of the property at Freebridge Street. Across Freebridge Street to the west, 800 lineal feet of 8' wide meandering sidewalk will be constructed traversing the length of the wedge shaped median and connecting to the existing City sidewalk on the west side of Parkview Avenue at State Street. This will complete a full pedestrian linkage from the City Hall complex perimeter trail to the Parkview Riverfront Trail. Additional on-site amenities include a drinking fountain, landscaping, and picnic tables and benches.
