Document Description
TANC, the Western Area Power Administration (Western), the California Department of Water Resources, the City of Vernon, and several California utilities own the COTP, an existing 500 kilovolt transmission line. The line is approximately 340 miles in length and extends from near Malin, Oregon south to the Tesla Substation located in central California. TANC is the Project Manager of the COTP and Western is responsible for operation and maintenance activities along the line. This new access route is necessary because of flooding-related, irreparable damage to the road within the existing access route to Tower 428. COTP Tower 428 is located southwest of Big Bend, California and east of the Pit.
