SMP No. 161R2 would expand the existing permitted disturbed area of 104.5 acres total permitted disturbed area to 360.0 acres. This revised plan proposes an increase in annual production from 300,000 to 900,000 tons per year. This plan also a total of 25 years of project life (permit expiring in 2027) thus resulting in a net increase from 2,400,000 tons of sand and gravel currently permitted to 28,000,000 tons to be produced over the life of this permit. In addition to acreage and production increases, the project plan intends to construct and operate one concrete block plant on the site. The site is currently in operation under SMP No. 161R1, issued in 2001 (original SMP No. 161 was issued in 1987). The entire project site (leased acreage) encompasses 440 acres.
