The Selma Recycling Center will provide the City of Selma with increased recycling opportunities to assist in compliance with state mandated solid waste diversion efforts. California law requires jurisdictions to reduce solid waste disposal by fifty percent. The Selma Recycling Center will process recyclable materials and solid waste collected from the community. Activities included in this Center include a recycling center, a green material collection area, and a direct transfer facility for the remaining solid wastes. No disposal of solid waste will occur on this property. Each of these operations is described below and will be operated as distinct activities on the property. Operations are subject to regulatory standards issued by the California Integrated Waste Management Board and other relevant agencies.
