Document Description
The James Irrigation District (JID), proposes to construct a groundwater recharge basin located approximately 1.5 miles northeast of the town of San Joaquin. This site is approximately 266 acres in size and is adjacent to the District's main canal. This project is intended to improve JID's groundwater recharge capability and lessen the groundwater overdraft within the District. During flood release years on the Kings River, flood waters will be diverted into the District's main canal and delivered to the basins for groundwater recharge. In addition to Kings River flood waters, the District will divert San Joaquin river water that is currently pumped from the Mendota Pool into the basins. This will provide storage that will provide regulation and greater efficiency in delivery of surface waters.
