- The project proposes to reconstruct the approximate 400 foot central portion of 900 foot span of the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge across the Santa Ana River, in Colton that was destroyed during the December 2001 fire. The project consists of the reconstruction of the missing span with concrete support structures, which would be limited to a 200 foot wide and 400 foot long right-of-way. The new segment would begin about 380-feet from the north abutment, consist of 13 spans at a length of 30-feet each, tying into the reamining timber structures. The streambed will be restored to its original condition upon completion of operations. Disturbance of the streambanks will be placed within currently developed area along 9th Street to the north of the river drainage.
