Document Description
The Department of Water Resources will test the feasibility of using portable pumping equipment for emergency uses for southern Delta agricultural diverters as requested in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Biological Opinion for the Temporary Barriers Project (TBP). The use of portable pumps is also planned as a condition for the operations of the State Water Project (SWP) and the Central Valley Project (CVP) as they pertain to the use of Joint Point of Diversion and additional pumping in the Delta to accommodate water transfers. The project will be located near an existing pump platform on Old River adjacent to Coney Island. The tesing period may range from 10 ten-minute intervals to two or three hours of pumping. Data will be collected to evaluate the project's effectiveness at relieving low water level diversion difficulties. DWR will hire a contractor to provide the equipment and technical support required while testing.
