Document Description
The project will consist of constructing the main library for the Shasta County Library system on land near the Redding Civic Center. Building size is dependent on funding. The two story building will likely be between 40,000 to 60,000 square feet. It will sit on an approximately 178,000 square foot site donated by the City of Redding located at the corner of Grape and Parkview Avenues. The main access for the building will be off of Parkview Avenue utilizing Grape Street. The facility will function as the main hub of the County system serving primarily the Redding area and providing support services to the outlying branches. Three parking spaces are proposed per 1,000 square feet of building area for a minimum of 314 spaces. Total parking needs for the area are estimated at about 305 spaces for peak use. It is anticipated that a Redding Area Bus Authority stop would be located near the building.
